The presenter will discuss how racial adversity affects minority children in this workshop. Race-based trauma profoundly impacts children's physical, cognitive, and emotional development. When persistent and unrelenting, stress can alter the brain and affect children's functioning in the classroom. The presenter will address how racial trauma can disrupt learning and explore how school social workers can implement strategies to remedy its impact.
