AJ de Coteau is a Trinidad-born versatile Black, queer scholar fueled with a passion for advocacy and improving the experiences of historically excluded populations of students. She is the inaugural Graduate Assistant for Graduate Diversity Programming at the University of Delaware. In this role, de Coteau strives to enhance cultural competencies and increase global mindset of graduate students by identifying, investigating, and resolving DEI issues in campus resources, organizing professional, social, and cultural programming, mentoring graduate student organizations, and measuring the effectiveness of DEI efforts. AJ possesses a strong collaborative nature and has extensive (10+ years) experience in research and teaching. Some areas of expertise include: Project Management, Cultural Competency, Recruitment and Retention, Socio-Cultural Education, Research, and Public Speaking.
