C. Sade Turnipseed is 2017 Mississippi Diversity Educator of the Year and proud recipient of a 2018 research grant to study the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor. As well as spearheading an anthology entitled, Up from the Cotton Fields-Revisited; Turnipseed’s most recent works Field Hollers and Freedom Songs shall be released in late Summer 2022, by Vernon Press. Turnipseed serves as the lead researcher in the development of the Cotton Pickers of America Monument and Historic Trail throughout the African World and into the Mississippi Delta AKA The Cotton Kingdom; and teaches history at Jackson State University.
