Dr. Charlene L. Lewis is a native of Knoxville, TN and earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Lewis currently serves as a Principal for Career Magnet Academy at for Knox County Schools and has worked in urban, rural and suburban settings for the last 20 years. Her professional goal in the field of education, is to provide leaders and teachers with a foundation of pedagogical and social emotional support to better serve all students to become life-long learners and productive citizens.
Dr. Lewis believes “All students can achieve their highest potential with effective resources and support. Most importantly, building relationships is the most impactful way to change lives”.
Dr. Lewis observed the success of schools led by leaders who enacted socially just leadership practices which resulted in higher student achievement, diverse instructional pedagogies and stronger relationships with parents and the community which led to her doctorate study focus of Principals Socially Just Leadership Practices. She has presented her research on socially just leadership at several local and national conferences. She is a member of several professional educational organizations such as the Association of Leaders of Educators, Black Doctoral Network, NASSP and ASCD in an effort to collaborate and learn with colleagues. She is an UCEA Jackson’s Scholar and a member of the Gamma Beta PSI Service Organization.
