Profile

Dr. Miriam Purnell is a tenured Associate Professor, Department Chair for Pharmacy Practice and Administration, and Program Director for the Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Rural Health Disparities & Social Inequities at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Pharmacy. Her teaching and scholarly interests include evidence-based medicine, spirituality in healthcare, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and predictors of student/ faculty success (e.g. implicit bias, impostor phenomenon). Prior to joining UMES, she worked in Corporate America for 12 years. She earned her B.S. and Doctor of Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Dr. Purnell also completed a Drug Information Residency with the Janssen Research Foundation and the American Academy of Colleges of Pharmacy Academic Leadership Fellows Program.
