Dr. Sheila Witherspoon

Dr. Sheila Witherspoon is the former Academic Program Coordinator, Fieldwork Coordinator, and Associate Professor in Counselor Education at South Carolina State University. Dr. Witherspoon received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of South Carolina; and her Master of Education and Bachelor of Arts degree from South Carolina State University. Currently a student at Northcentral University, Ed.D. program in e-Learning the qualitative researcher studies distance education at historically black colleges and universities, especially faculty development for new (first time teaching) pre-tenured faculty. Dr. Witherspoon participates in distance education and community organizations such as the Black Doctoral Network, Online Learning Consortium – HBCU Summit, Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
