In this workshop, participants will analyze how hip-hop entertainer Dwight “Heavy D” Myers actively engaged in body politics through his work and public persona by using corpulence as an identity that undermines traditional conceptions and performances of corpulence and Blackness. It illuminates the body as a location for the inscription and dissemination of ideology, as it demonstrates how said body negotiates identity.
