This presentation will discuss how an experienced and highly regarded Black urban middle school mathematics teacher (Ms. Collier) embodied Culturally Relevant Pedagogy (CRP) in her mathematics classroom with her Black students. Using the Culturally Responsive Mathematics Teaching framework, we will discuss Ms. Collier’s CRP theory-to-practice applications of cultural competence.
