This presentation will discuss children of color in the foster care system often experience identity modification to align with prospective adoptive families' expectations, adjusting aspects of their identity to facilitate adoption. This process can involve adapting cultural, racial, or personal traits to better fit perceived norms and increase their chances of being adopted.
